TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Dominique Buckley scored 16 points to lead five Toledo players in double figures and the Rockets beat Western Michigan 83-74 Saturday night in a Mid-American Conference game.

Matt Smith and Rian Pearson added 15 points apiece, Julius Brown 14 and Curtis Dennis 10 for Toledo (15-14, 6-8).

Flenard Whitfield led Western Michigan (12-17, 6-8) with 15 points, Matt Stainbrook scored 14 and Demetrius Ward and Mike Douglas had 10 each.

Toledo, up 44-41 at intermission, led by as many as 13 points in the second half. But a 3-pointer by Ward later cut Western Michigan’s deficit to 72-71, and a layup by Douglas gave the Broncos a 73-72 lead with 2:48 remaining.

Brown’s jumper promptly regained the lead for Toledo. The Rockets made 5 of 6 foul shots in the last minute to seal it.

Toledo committed a season-low five turnovers — one coming in the second half.
