A motorcyclist was hurt and rush hour traffic snarled after an accident in east Vancouver early Wednesday evening, according to the Vancouver Fire Department.

The crash occurred about 5:35 p.m. at Southeast 164th Avenue and 34th Street, said VFD firefighter-paramedic Kevin Stromberg.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was heading south when his bike went down on its side, Stromberg said. The man suffered scrapes and possible fractures on the left side of his body.

The motorcycle rider’s name was not available.

The man was wearing a helmet. He was taken to a local hospital.
