INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Summer Exclusive defeated Sacred Ovation by a head to win the $73,600 Harry Henson Stakes on opening day of Betfair Hollywood Park’s spring-summer meet Thursday.

Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Summer Exclusive ran 612 furlongs on the turf in 1:08.96 and paid $3.60, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 4-5 favorite.

Sacred Ovation returned $2.80 and $2.20. Colburn was another 234 lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

“I had a dream trip, really,” Gomez said. “I ended up in an ideal spot. They weren’t flying, but there were four of them across the track and it was just a matter of waiting to see who was going to be the first one to move forward and that I was going to follow.”

Summer Exclusive won for the second time in three starts and has earnings of $77,860.
