NEW YORK (AP) — Whiskey Romeo beat New Line by 234 lengths on Friday in the $83,300 Trippi Stakes for 3-year-olds, the opening day feature at Belmont Park.
Whiskey Romeo won for the fourth time in five races for trainer Tony Dutrow. Cornelio Velasquez was aboard for the seven furlongs in 1:23.05.
Whiskey Romeo paid $5.50, $2.90 and $2.60 as the 8-5 favorite. New Line returned $3.70 and $2.40 while Purple Egg paid $3.20.
