NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane cornerback Jordan Sullen was apparently knocked out by a knee to the head and was carted off the field during the third quarter Saturday night in the New Orleans Bowl.

Sullen was trying to make a lunging tackle on Louisiana-Lafayette’s Elijah McGuire when McGuire’s knee hit the side of Sullen’s helmet, snapping the defensive back’s neck back. Sullen was face-down and immobile when trainers initially rushed to his aid. After several minutes, he could be seen moving and eventually was helped to his feet before gingerly sitting on a stretcher and being carted away for observation.

Tulane radio network sideline reporter Gus Kattengell said on air that team doctors told him Sullen had full movement of his extremities and was expected to be OK, but was briefly knocked unconscious.
