DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Gary Stevens led 10-1 long-shot No Silent to a gate-to-wire victory Thursday in the $85,000 feature, the 50-year-old Hall of Fame jockey sixth win in three days at Del Mar.
Stevens, continuing a comeback that began in January, took the 4-year-old No Silent straight to the lead in the six-horse he held off Chiloquin by 114 lengths, covering 612 furlongs in 1:15.82.
No Silent paid $23.80, $8.40 and $4 for his fourth career win and increased his lifetime earnings to $220,970. Chiloquin returned $3.60 and $3.60, and Mobilized paid $4.80 to show. Heavy favorite Castaway was fifth.
No Silent is trained by Gary Mandella, whose father, Richard Mandella, saddled a winner for Stevens on Wednesday in the Del Mar feature.
