Salmon Creek Farmers’ Market wraps up fourth season with strong growth

Salmon Creek — The fourth season of the Salmon Creek Farmers’ Market wrapped up on Sept. 26. Both the Tuesday market at the entrance to Legacy Salmon Creek hospital and the Thursday market behind the Wayside Market on Northeast 134th Street grew nearly 20 percent this year, according to organizer Ann Foster. The market continued its program of accepting and enhancing SNAP benefits (food stamps) with matching dollars for electronic sales. Using SNAP makes fresh, locally grown produce available to lower income folks, Foster said, and keeps those dollars circulating in our community. Next up for the Salmon Creek Farmers’ Market is a Harvest Market on Oct. 29 and a Thanksgiving Market on Nov. 26, both at the hospital. Visit salmoncreekfarmersmarket.com to learn more.
