Mountain bike race scheduled on Silver Star Mountain

Portions of Silver Star and Chinook trails in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday for a mountain bike race.

Approximately 180 participants will be riding on Silver Star trail No. 180, Ed’s trail No. 180A, Chinook trail No. 180B and the final three miles of road No. 4109.

The race is part of the Oregon Enduro series. Participants will practice on Saturday, but the trails will stay open.

A time trial will begin just below the summit of Silver Star Mountain in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and continue down the Chinook trail in Yacolt Burn State Forest.

Closed specifically during the three hours will be Silver Star trail No. 180 between the two junctions with Ed’s trail No. 180A and Chinook trail No. 180B.
