Letter: Reject new approach to governing

By Lynn Parker, Vancouver

I’ve lived in Vancouver many years. Up until we voted in David Madore to Clark County government, this was a town that wrestled with rampant growth, wild fluctuations in new construction and jobs, school districts struggling with an unprecedented influx of English as a second language students, and a failing economy.

Our public leaders met these challenges with different opinions and suggestions on how to deal with this. They had a congenial, polite, intelligent approach to each problem. They didn’t always agree on the best solution but always seemed to come up with a compromise that was good for our county.

This new way of “my way or the highway” makes me wonder if Councilors Madore and Tom Mielke were shut in a closet by their parents when they misbehaved. Aggressive, angry, nasty behavior doesn’t belong here.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
