A wanted man led police on a foot chase across Interstate 205 Thursday afternoon, until a passing motorist pulled over to stop him, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger said an off-duty officer at the parking lot of the Safeway at Northeast Highway 99 and Northeast 129th Street recognized Jeffery Scott Adams, who was wanted for multiple felony warrants, shortly before 5 p.m.

Rothenberger said the officer called 911. When law enforcement arrived, Adams, 27, of Battle Ground, allegedly took off running.

“He’s ran from us several times,” Rothenberger said.

Adams hopped a fence, ran across the onramp from Northeast 134th Street onto the highway’s southbound lanes, then through the southbound lanes and into the median, Rothenberger said.

A few cars heading north stopped, and someone got out and stopped Adams until police arrived.

“A citizen saw us chasing him and actually grabbed onto him,” Rothenberger said. “That was very convenient.”

Adams was arrested on the outstanding warrants.
