Friday and Saturday, extra officers from the Vancouver, Battle Ground, Ridgefield and Washougal police departments will patrol for impaired drivers, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The Vancouver Police Department encouraged those celebrating the weekend to designate a driver, call a sober friend or otherwise have a ride secured.

The department is working with the ride-sharing service Uber to offer first-time Uber users a $25 coupon code toward their first trip. Sign up using the coupon code RIDEHOMEVANC at https://get.uber.com/go/ridehomevanc.

In addition, the department said, the Washington State Patrol will have extra troopers out enforcing distracted driving laws.

The extra patrols were paid for thanks to a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
