A Battle Ground man was taken to the hospital in critical condition Monday after slamming his motorcycle into an oncoming pickup north of Battle Ground, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The state patrol said Jaysun C. Lobdell, 21, was heading north on his Ducati Monster motorcycle on state Highway 503 around 4:45 p.m.

The state patrol said Lobdell was driving at a high rate and passing other cars when, about 2 miles north of Battle Ground, he entered a curve.

Lobdell went over the centerline and collided with a southbound pickup, driven by 26-year-old Anders E. Karlsen of Brush Prairie, according to the state patrol.

Lobdell’s bike then went onto its side and slid into a ditch on the southbound side of the highway.

Lobdell was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for his injuries. Lobdell was listed in critical condition Monday evening. He was wearing a helmet.

Karlsen was unhurt.

The state patrol said Lobdell was cited for reckless driving.
