A fire heavily damaged a garage in the Vancouver Heights neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a house fire at 6910 Tennessee Lane at 3 p.m.

Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Kevin Stromberg said the first firefighters at the scene arrived to find a car parked in a garage and engulfed in flames.

The fire spread through the garage and into the home’s attic, he said, but firefighters were able to bring it under control, and out of the living area, in about 20 minutes.

One woman was there at the time, and got out safely, Stromberg said. No one was hurt.

He said the Red Cross responded to help with any post-disaster needs, as the occupants would likely be displaced for a time.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating.
