Popular social clubs are open again at Vancouver community centers for seniors to connect with others over shared interests.

The clubs, part of “50 and Better,” are tailored toward those who wish to learn new skills while enjoying friendly conversations. Programs include book clubs, card groups, mahjong, knitting and ukulele, and do not require prior experience.

Other senior programs, such as hiking, will return in early 2022 as in-person events are being gradually introduced after being put on hold due to the pandemic.

The Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave., is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and the Luepke Community Center, 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd., is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
