A pedestrian was taken to an area hospital Thursday morning after being hit by a car in a crosswalk east of Mountain View High School, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded at 8:12 a.m. to 1401 S.E. Park Crest Ave. The person was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, police department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said, but was conscious and breathing.

The driver was cited for failing to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Kapp said.
