Girls basketball: Brooklynn Haywood scores 42 points to rally Union past Prairie 85-52

Brooklynn Haywood hit eight 3-pointers and scored 42 points to spark the Titans from a slow start to beat Prairie 85-52 in a non-league girls basketball game on Saturday.

After falling behind 17-8 after one quarter, Union rallied to take 32-26 by halftime. Haywood had 19 points in the third quarter as the Titans stretched their lead to 57-43. 

Rowyn Riley added 16 points for Union and Ava Smith had 15.

Claire Smith had 17 points to lead Prairie and Emma Smith had 16.

SETON CATHOLIC 57, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 18 —Remy Jenniges hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points as the Seton Catholic girls basketball capped its regular season with its 14 straight win, a 57-18 win over visiting Columbia-White Salmon on Saturday.

 The Cougars (16-4, 10-0) also got 15 points from Riley Seymer and 10 from Tiffany. Seton will host a 1A district tournament game on Thursday.

Taniah Barajas had 10 points to lead the Bruins.

RIDGEFIELD 64, WASHOUGAL 52 — Jalise Chatman scored 17 points and Janessa Chatman scored all nine of her points during a big second quarter as the Spudders completed 2A Greater St. Helens League with a win.

The Spudders (17-2, 14-2) will be the No. 2 seed to next week’s district tournament. Washougal (10-11) fell to 8-8 in league play and will face Woodland on Wednesday in league tiebreaker to determine the fifth and final berth to the district tournament.

Ridgefield outscored Washougal 20-8 in the second quarter to stretch their lead to 37-14 by halftime. Isabella Albaugh and Ireland Albaugh had 14 each for Washougal.
