A man was injured Monday morning in a motorcycle crash in the 1300 block of S.E. Washougal River Road.

Matthew Leininger, 40, of Washougal was driving a 2004 Suzuki 650 motorcycle on the road at about 7:30 a.m. when traffic stopped ahead of him for a school bus that was picking up some children, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Leininger tried to stop but hit the brakes too hard and lost control of the motorcycle, Sgt. Fred Neiman said.

Leininger crashed on the road, sustaining “significant injuries,” Neiman said. Leininger was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday, according to hospital staff.

No other injuries were reported in the crash, and no vehicles were struck by the motorcycle.
