Another way to cross the Columbia

Kevin Peterson, a Washington-based urban design expert, drew up an alternative for the current proposed Columbia River Crossing. His version would be situated upstream from the current span and include separate decks for automobiles: One carrying traffic through the area at freeway speeds and a lower deck for motorists getting on and off near the river.
