The 1962 Columbus Day Storm destroyed this sign for the Pacific Motel along Highway 99 in Hazel Dell. A photo caption from The Columbian published on Oct. 15 (there were no weekend papers) noted that "steel supports of the signs were twisted like noodles by the force of the wind."
