Members of the congregation take part in a ritual to cast off the sins of the previous year by throwing pieces of bread into Klineline Pond. The Tashlich ceremony is always performed on the first afternoon of Rosh Hashanah. Prayers are recited near naturally flowing water. It is part of the preparation for Yom Kippur, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, and continues through Sept. 26. To learn more about Kol Ami, visit jewishvancouverusa.org.
