Prep highlights: Sydney Dreves piles up 32 kills as Columbia River volleyball opens league with win

Rapids beat Hockinson 25-18, 25-15, 25-15

Sydney Dreves had 32 kills and nine digs as the Columbia River volleyball team opened play in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a 3-0 win over Hockinson.

The Rapids won 25-18, 25-15, 25-15.

River, which was coming off a 3-0 loss to Prairie, also got 32 assists and five digs from Avery Seley. Sophia Gourley added eight kills and nine digs, and Ava Bond had seven kills and three aces.

Stars of the day

  • Jordis Taylor, Heritage volleyball, had 15 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Brooklyn Fobi, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had 11 kills, five aces and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Battle Ground.
  • Paige Hanes, Ridgefield volleyball, had 15 kills and four blocks in a 3-1 win over Washougal.
  • Baylee Bushnell and Marlee Buffham, Ridgefield girls soccer, each had goals in a 2-1 win over Camas.
  • Makayla Hundt and Meg Perkins, Columbia River girls soccer, each had a goal and an assists in a 5-0 win over Prairie.
  • Maris Loveall, Battle Ground girls soccer, had a goal and an assists in a 2-0 win over Mountain View.
  • Leilany Elias Sanchez, Skyview girls soccer, had two goals in a 5-1 win over Hockinson.
  • Ohu Miles, Union girls soccer, had a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Tumwater.
  • Mercy Shaw, Camas slowpitch softball, went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple and three RBI in a 12-11 loss to R.A. Long.
  • Stevie Jones, R.A. Long slowpitch softball, went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI in a 12-11 win over Camas.
  • Haylee Delano, Columbia River slowpitch softball, went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and a triple in a 16-1 win over Prairie.
  • Spencer Moody, Mountain View boys golf, shot a 3-under-par 31 at Fairway Village for medalist honors in a team win against Prairie.
  • Broden Toney, Mark Morris boys golf, went 1-over 36 at Mint Valley for medalist honors in a team win over Hockinson.
  • Mason Bluestein, Union boys golf, was even-par 37 at Tri-Mountain for medalist honors in the Titans’ win against Skyview.
  • Owen Winn and Luke Potter, Columbia River golf, shot 1-under 35s to lead the Rapids over Ridgefield.
