Now that they’re tackling the Highway 500/St. Johns Road interchange, what should the next road project be?

Another lane on Interstate 205 all the way from Highway 500 to Northeast 134th Street. (24.73% - 69 votes)

More lanes on Highway 14 between I-205 and Southeast 164th Avenue. (19.00% - 53 votes)

Actually, I prefer to spend the money on buses, bike lanes and light rail. (27.96% - 78 votes)

Let's put a freeze on highway projects and reduce gas taxes by a nickel. (28.32% - 79 votes)

We all know property taxes are necessary but in today's economy what should have happened to our property tax bill?

Look, the government is not like a private business. If it has to bring in a little more money to do what it needs to do, so be it. (14.14% - 213 votes)

I think I would have been OK with no increase in my property tax bill. If I'm treading water, the government should tread water with me. (33.33% - 502 votes)

We're really hurting out there. My property tax bill should have gone down a little. (52.52% - 791 votes)

What is your opinion of taxes targeted toward a single purpose?

I like giving voters a chance to support or reject individual projects, so targeted taxes are a good idea. (62.62% - 134 votes)

Taxes are taxes. Reject them all. (20.09% - 43 votes)

I don't like the idea of targeting taxes for specific projects. Our elected officials need more leeway to prioritize how to spend tax money. (17.29% - 37 votes)

With labor so cheap overseas do you feel there is any chance the manufacturing industry here will come back in a big way?

Yes but I suspect it will take a lot of ingenuity and a number of incentives from the government. (28.01% - 207 votes)

We'd be better served focusing on something here that cheap labor overseas can't do. (66.44% - 491 votes)

A study shows that in this recession, more adult men lost jobs than women. I'm thinking:

It shows that too many good "family wage" jobs were lost, which could be why the recession still lingers. (17.50% - 14 votes)

It shows that retirement is going to be a bigger than expected problem for many baby boomers. (7.50% - 6 votes)

It shows that men had most of the good jobs. (13.75% - 11 votes)

It shows all of the above. (61.25% - 49 votes)

Would you like to see a multipurpose baseball stadium built in Vancouver, which would be used for several things including a place for a Single-A baseball team to play?

Yes, I think we could really use it and a 5 percent entertainment fee on things like movie tickets which would help pay for it, would be money well spent. (45.99% - 511 votes)

No, I'm against all taxes and all fees and if the private sector can't foot the entire bill then I just say no. (38.61% - 429 votes)

Taxpayers foot the bill for public education through high school, including bus transportation. I'm thinking:

Transportation should be paid by the public because you have to make sure kids get to school to give them an education. (51.23% - 313 votes)

Transportation should be the responsibility of the school children's parents. Not everyone uses the school bus and those who do should pay a user fee. (43.86% - 268 votes)

A recent count of local homeless people found a 24 percent drop from last year's total. I'm thinking:

The economy must be improving, as fewer people are living homeless. (2.47% - 4 votes)

Maybe some homeless people gave up and left town for warmer, drier, more prosperous cities. (45.68% - 74 votes)

It's a sign that more friends, relatives and charitable organizations are housing the homeless. (11.73% - 19 votes)

There must have been something wrong with this year's count. (40.12% - 65 votes)

President Obama said he won't release a gruesome photo of a dead Osama bin Laden. But if he had and you were the editor of the paper, what would you do?

I wouldn't run it at all because it would just further inflame our enemies. (47.50% - 512 votes)

I'd run it big on the front page. Why should we be sensitive when they certainly weren't on Sept. 11? (31.26% - 337 votes)

I'd look for some middle ground. Run it, but run it small on the front page or maybe inside the paper. (21.24% - 229 votes)
